Insurance: If you hold a German public health insurance card (Gesundheitskarte), medical treatments are covered as usual – no referral needed to see a dermatologist. Private and international insurance is billed according to the German fee schedule (GOÄ); you will receive an itemized invoice for reimbursement. Aesthetic and cosmetic treatments are self-pay for everyone.

Getting here: Dorotheenstraße 48, Hamburg-Winterhude. The nearest stops are Goldbekplatz and Gertigstraße, both served by bus lines 6 and 25. A limited number of free parking spaces are available in the building's underground garage – call us when you are at the gate and we will open it for you. The practice is on the third floor and can be reached by lift; access is barrier-free and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Do I need a referral to see a dermatologist in Germany?
No. In Germany you can book directly with a dermatologist, whether you are publicly or privately insured. At Dermatologie Dorotheenstraße you simply book online via Doctolib.
Does the whole team speak English?
I consult in English, Norwegian and Swedish. The practice team will help you in English with booking and organizational questions.
What does a skin check cost?
With German public insurance, skin cancer screening is covered from age 35 every two years (some insurers voluntarily cover it earlier – check with your insurer). Privately insured and self-paying patients are billed per GOÄ – we are happy to give you an estimate beforehand.
